Eric Lofstrom will lead "A Day of Turning Rice Bowls: Refined, Elegant, Functional." Registration is limited to eight.
This six-hour, hands-on class is designed to equip participants with techniques needed to turn small, functional bowls. In addition to reviewing bowl turning techniques, the main focus will be tool control techniques used to finesse bowl forms into elegant works of art. Using only basic tools, we will explore many exercises designed to fine-tune your turning skills and foundational body movements to produce clean curves in your work. The experience of turning small, elegantly curved bowls will take your bowl turning to a new level.
Please bring the following tools:
-Bowl Gouge/s- Fingernail and Traditional Grinds (1⁄2”dia. shank);
-Radiused-Edge Scraper
-Parting Tool
-Diamond Hone (handheld- DMT Credit Card, extra-fine is recommended)
-Face shield (and any other appropriate safety gear)
-DUST MASK (one w/ exhalation valve is recommended) or other adequate respiratory protection
